Mother Teresa of Calcutta, often known simply as Mother Teresa, was an Indian naturalized Albanian religious of Catholic faith, founder of the religious congregation of the Missionaries of Charity.
Her tireless work among the victims of poverty in Calcutta made her one of the most famous people in the world and earned her numerous awards, including the Nobel Peace Prize in 1979. She was proclaimed blessed by Pope John Paul II on 19 October 2003 and holy by Pope Francis on September 4, 2016.
