The Homilies d'Organyà are considered the first literary text written in Catalan as well as the first known translation between Romance languages. The Homilies show us a living, expressive and mature language and constitute an unequivocal proof of the antiquity of the Catalan language and its profound roots in time, in the territory and in the people. The Catalan language finds in Homilies the certificate of its solidity, the observation of its existence in the foundations of cultural heritage and, finally, the historical reference point for the current language. The Homilies were discovered in the Church of Santa María d'Organyà in the year 1904.
The original of the thirteenth century it is kept in the Library of Catalonia with the signature 289.
