The low relief reproduces a famous oil on canvas by Bartolomé Esteban Murillo: “Saint Francis embracing Christ on the cross”.
The composition symbolizes the culminating moment of the life of St. Francis of Assisi, or the decision to renounce all of its benimaterialiperabbracciarelavitareligiosa. Next to the cross, two angels have an open book in which there is a passage from the Gospel of Luke (14.33) which reads: “Then, some of you who do not renounce all the things you possess can not be my disciple”.
On January 21, 2015, he was donated to His Holiness Pope Francis.
